Classifications of Property

There are two classifications of property that the Sheriff's Office keeps and maintains, seized and found. During criminal investigations, the property is seized by Deputies and Detectives to serve as evidence in court proceedings. Found property is a property in which a Citizen or Deputy finds and is unable to locate the Owner. All evidence and property are packaged, logged, and stored in the Evidence Unit.

All seized property will be held until the case is disposed of in the Judicial System. A court order must be signed by a Judge for seized property to be released. If the Evidence & Property Control Unit receives a court order to return your property you will be contacted through US Mail.
