Requirements for Concealed Handgun Permits
Applications for Concealed handgun permits are accepted at the Sheriff's Office
Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 P.m. by appointment only (excluding holidays)
Application requirements include:
If discharged from the military, please provide a copy of your DD-214
Must apply in person
Must sign mental background check
Must be 21 years and one day of age or older
Must be eligible to own, possess, or receive a firearm under State or Federal Law
Must be a resident of Davidson County
Must have completed an approved firearms training course and provide the original certificate with the application.
Must pass a criminal history background check
Must provide a complete set of legible fingerprints (taken at application)
Must provide current/valid identification (North Carolina driver’s license or North Carolina identification card)
Must provide proof of legal residency, if not a US citizen
Cost: $90.00 cash only

** Do not sign the application upon completion.
All applications must be signed at the Sheriff's Office with Personnel.
Processing may take up to 45 days after the application is submitted.
If the applicant is denied, the applicant will be notified in writing, stating the reason for the denial. An applicant may appeal the denial or revocation of a permit.
