School Resource Division

The School Resource Officer program provides a Deputy Sheriff as a School Resource Officer in elementary, middle and high schools within Davidson County.  Elementary School Resource Officers utilize the D.A.R.E. Program. Our middle school utilizes the T.A.M.E Program. 

Captain Cory Mann (SRO)

Captain Cory Mann has been employed by the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office since 2001. Captain Mann began his career as a Detention Officer in the Davidson County Jail prior to his assignment with the Patrol Division in 2003. Captain Mann has since worked as a DARE Instructor, Warrant Squad Deputy, Special Victims Detective, Professional Standards Division Sergeant, and Detective Lieutenant. 

In December 2018, Mann was promoted to Captain by Sheriff Simmons to oversee the Investigations entities at the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.  In October 2019, Captain Mann assumed command of the Patrol Division. As the commander of the patrol division, Captain Mann has overseen the daily operations of the four patrol squads, Animal Control, Crime Prevention Unit, and the Traffic and Criminal Enforcement Unit.

Captain Mann became a member of the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard Unit in 2003 and the Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) in 2005. Captain Mann now serves as Captain over the School Resource Officer Division of the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. Captain Mann also holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate and is a Certified Subject Control/Defensive Tactics Instructor, Rapid Deployment (Active Shooter) Instructor, and Gracie (BJJ) Survival Tactics Instructor.
